    Rhubarb Fruit Conserve

    6 cups diced rhubarb

    3 cups pineapple

    1/2 cup pineapple juice

    2 cups soaked dried apricots

    1/iv loving cup lemon juice

    8 cups granulated saccharide

    1/2 cup seedless raisins

    Simmer rhubarb, pineapple, apricots & juice 20 min. Add other ingredients & boil gently until conserve thickens. Stir oft with wooden spoon. Cascade into sterilized jars, seal when cold.

    I take tons of these, anybody else?

    President Eisenhowers Favorite Block Recipe

    1/2 cup butter
    2 cup sugar
    3 eggs
    1 cup sour milk
    2 1/2 cups sifted flour
    ane tsp. baking soda
    one rounded tsp. baking powder
    2/3 loving cup cocoa dissolved in ane/ii loving cup boiling water
    ane/4 tsp. table salt
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Sift flour, soda, baking powder & salt; cream the shortening, slowly beat out in sugar, add egg yolks & vanilla. Add cocoa, add flour mixture alternately with the milk. Fold in stiffly browbeaten egg whites. Pour into 2 greased layer block tins. Broil 25 minutes in 375 degree oven. Or: Use greased ix inch square tin & bake 45 minutes @ 350 deg.
    Seven Minute Frosting:
    2 egg whites, unbeaten
    1 1/2 cups carbohydrate finely sifted
    5 Tbsp. cold h2o
    ane/2 tsp. foam of tartar or 2 tsp. light corn syrup
    Few grains common salt
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Combine ingredients in elevation of double boiler; Stir until carbohydrate dissolves. And then place over briskly humid water. Beat with egg beater until stiff enough to stand in peaks 6 to 10 minutes. Add vanilla, beat until thick enough to spread. During cooling, keep sides of double boiler cleaned down with spatula. With an electrical beater the process may accept every bit fiddling every bit 4 min.

    2 cans of beets, whole, diced or sliced
    one ½ lb. Cabbage
    ¾ cup vinegar
    1 loving cup saccharide
    ½ canteen horseradish, ( not hot )

    Put beets & cabbage through food chopper. Mix vinegar, carbohydrate, & horseradish. Combine with beets & cabbage. Makes one qt. Keeps in fridge a long time.

  • @Viola I'd say half / one-half purple for the taste and green for the optical contrast. Although ane,v lb is about only i cabbage and then mayhap brand it twice as much ?
    You tin't always have enough relish ^^

    Ham Loaf

    2 lbs. footing lean pork
    1 lb. ground ham
    ane egg beaten
    1 cup bread crumbs
    one/2 loving cup milk
    three Tbsp. tomato sauce
    i/2 tsp. paprika
    1/four tsp. common salt

    Mix. Bake @ 350 deg. for i one/2 hours

    Mustard Sauce:
    one/2 cup tomato sauce
    1/2 cup prepared mustard
    ane/2 cup vinegar
    i/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup margarine
    3 egg yolks browbeaten

    Cook in double boiler until thick. Will keep indefinitely in refrigerator.


  • Poor Mans Cake

    2 cups carbohydrate

    eight Tbsp. shortening

    2 cups h2o

    ane pkg. seedless raisins

    1 tsp. salt

    ii tsp. cinnamon

    one tsp. cloves

    ane tsp. nutmeg

    2 tsp. blistering soda

    4 cups flour, sifted

    1 tsp. baking pulverisation

    3/iv loving cup nutmeats

    Put shortening into pan, add carbohydrate, h2o, raisins, salt & spices, boil 3 minutes, cool near fifteen to twenty min. Add nutmeats, and then mix in flour, baking soda & baking pulverisation; mix well. Put into two loaf pans that have been greased & floured. Bake 50 - threescore minutes in 350 deg. oven. Ane half of small jar of cherries may exist added with flour. Will proceed for almost a calendar week to ten days wrapped in foil.

    Ingredients:
    500g wheat flour
    300ml grape juice (or immature wine)
    2 tblsp anise seeds
    ii tblsp cumin seeds
    100g lard
    50g grated cheese (sheep's cheese would exist best)
    ca. 20 bay leaves

    Instructions:
    Pour some must over the flour, add anise and cumin seeds, the lard and
    cheese. Work it together until yous have a reasonable dough. Form
    rolls, so put one bay leafage under each of them.

    Broil 30-35 minutes at 180°C

    Note:
    It'southward meliorate to brand the must rolls with yeast dough, because then they
    tin be kept longer, and they are not so hard. To make the yeast dough,
    add together 40g yeast to the flour + grape juice, leave it a while until you
    continue like higher up.

    3/4 cup sugar

    ane/two lb. margarine
    1/2 lb. butter
    i 1/4 cups carbohydrate
    4 ane/ii cups flour
    3/4 cup corn starch

    Put ingredients in large basin & knead with hands until well mixed. Roll on floured board & cutting in shapes to suit season. Broil on ungreased cookie sheet. When ready to use, put 2 cookies together with red raspberry seedless jam. Water ice elevation & put 1/ii cherry on each. Oven, 350 deg. Fourth dimension, 12 to fifteen minutes.


  • Lamb Chops with Horseradish Foam

    Lamb chops
    Mushroom caps
    Horseradish Cream
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1 Tbsp. butter
    Paprika
    2 heaping Tbsp. grated horseradish
    one/ii lump sugar
    Onion juice
    Beefiness goop
    1/2 cup of cream

    Have chops from rib cut rather thick. Pan broil for about x min. until nicely browned on both sides. And so put on top of each a heaping Tbsp. horseradish, cream, spread evenly with pocketknife. Place a baked mushroom cap on each chop. Place in hot oven for 2 min.
    Horseradish Foam: Blend flour with butter. Do not brown at all, add paprika, carbohydrate, salt a few drops onion juice, & a little beef broth. Cook 15 min. Then add together cream & cook for 10 min. more, stirring to prevent lumping, add grated horseradish & cook 5 min. longer.
